Assassin’s Creed: Revelations Launch Trailer

Ubisoft released the long anticipated launch trailer last Friday for their forthcoming title Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, set to debut tomorrow. The game is developed by Ubisoft Montreal and features ACII/Brotherhood protagonist Ezio Auditore tracing the origins and secrets of his ancestor Altaïr Ibn-La’Ahad (the hero of the first installment) through the Ottoman Empire and back to Masyaf once more.

Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand Screenshots & Trailer

Screenshots for the “Back to Karkand” DLC for EA Games’s Battlefield 3 has recently hit the web, with developer DICE bringing back their Frostbite 2 engine. New expansion maps include “Strike at Karkand,” “Wake Island,” “Gulf of Oman,” and “Sharqi Peninsula,” all modified with the aforementioned engine.

Skyrim Worldwide Sales: 3.4 Million Copies in First Two Days

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the hotly anticipated follow-up to Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (released March 2006),has sales figures that confirm over 3.4 million retail copies sold after only two days on sale. Of course, the recent outings by Modern Warfare 3 and its 6.5 million triumph and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception’s respectable 3.8 million sales can only begin to compare Skyrim with this season’s blockbuster videogame numbers. Regardless, Skyrim’s sales are up over 600% on Oblivion’s unexceptional 490k opening five years ago, already revealing the game’s high potential to outsell its predecessor.

North American Limited Edition of Final Fantasy XIII-2 Announced

Square Enix recently announced a North American collector’s edition for the upcoming Final Fantasy XIII-2 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, set to release on January 31, 2012. Atlus to Make Game of Thrones Action-RPG

Atlus (Catherine, Persona 4) has announced Thursday a future 2012 release of a Game of Thrones action-RPG videogame developed by Cyanide Studios of France. The game is based on the bestselling fantasy novel series A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin, a title that has been recently popularized by the critically acclaimed HBO series. Cyanide has previously developed the strategy PC game A Game of Thrones: Genesis on September 29 this year, a prequel to the A Song of Ice and Fire storyline. The premise follows a conflict spanning 1000 years in a pre-Westeros setting, expanding the fiction of Martin’s series.

Next Call of Duty Title Slated for 2012

Merely a day after Activision Blizzard’s release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and already CEO Bobby Kotick has confirmed a new Call of Duty installment for release next year. Kotick gave this statement following the launch of the blockbuster game:

“As we focus on 2012, we have a strong product pipeline which features a minimum of two highly-anticipated new titles from Blizzard Entertainment, including Diablo III, and a new Call of Duty game from Activision Publishing. As a result, we expect to deliver another year of profitable growth. I believe our unyielding commitment to excellence and our creative talent around the globe will continue to position Activision Blizzard as the leader in interactive entertainment.”
